Agreement

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the US Permit Search website, dashboard, email alerts and API (the "Service"), operated by US Permit Search ("we", "us"). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you use the Service for a company, you agree on its behalf.

The data

The Service compiles building permit records that cities publish as public records on their open-data portals. We clean, classify and group those records, but we do not create them and cannot guarantee that they are complete, accurate or current. Classifications (such as commercial vs. residential, trade or project grouping) are our estimates.

The Service is provided for business development and research. Do not use it as the sole basis for legal, safety, lending or investment decisions, and verify important facts with the issuing city.

Accounts

You must give accurate sign-up information and keep your credentials secure. You are responsible for activity under your account. Each Pro or API subscription is for one named user unless we agree otherwise in writing.

Subscriptions, billing and cancellation

Paid plans are billed in advance, monthly or annually, through our payment processor, Stripe. Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled. You can cancel anytime from the billing page; access continues to the end of the paid period. Refunds are described in our Refund Policy.

We may change prices for future billing periods with at least 30 days' notice by email.

Acceptable use and license

Subject to these Terms and your plan, we grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable license to access the Service and use exported data for your internal business purposes, including contacting the businesses listed. API plans may also use the data inside their own products for their customers, but may not resell or redistribute the dataset as a substitute for the Service.

You may not scrape the Service, share accounts or API keys, circumvent usage limits, or use the data to harass anyone or in violation of law, including anti-spam and telemarketing laws.

Disclaimers and limitation of liability

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND. TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM IS LIMITED TO THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM, AND WE ARE NOT LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES OR LOST PROFITS.

Termination and changes

We may suspend or end access for a breach of these Terms. We may update these Terms; material changes are emailed to account holders at least 14 days before they apply.
